Mary Kay Bergman was a prolific American voice actress, best known for her work on the animated television series South Park. She was the original voice of nearly all of the show's female characters, including Liane Cartman, Shelly Marsh, Sheila Broflovski, and many others.
Beyond South Park, Bergman had an extensive career in voice-over, providing voices for numerous animated shows, films, commercials, and video games. Some of her notable credits include work for Disney, Hanna-Barbera, and Warner Bros. She voiced characters such as Jane Jetson in various Jetsons projects and Snow White in various Disney productions.
Tragically, Mary Kay Bergman suffered from depression and anxiety, which she kept hidden from most of her colleagues and friends. She died by suicide in 1999 at the age of 38. Her death was a significant loss to the animation community.
